Jaipur: The Pink City-headquartered Lotus Dairy Products Pvt Ltd with revenues of about Rs 1,500 crore is set to enter exports markets starting with Singapore, a top official of the company said here. Lotus gets around 55% of its revenues from GSK, Nestle, Mother Diary, Abbott and others by supplying dairy ingredients and has around 25%
market share in the retail business in Rajasthan.

But now as it seeks to enter the overseas markets, it is firming up its value-added products portfolio which will also be available in domestic market.

“We have already tied up with a company in Singapore and are expecting the licence for exports in a couple of weeks. After that we will enter the Middle East and US markets. Lotus will be present in these three geographies in 6-9 months with products like flavoured milk, ghee, paneer and yoghurt,” said Anuj Modi, director of the company.

The company has been in the dairy business since the past 40 years and has four milk processing plants in Rajasthan. After a management reorganization that saw the Modi family taking full control of the business in about three years ago, the company has laid out an aggressive growth plan for the next five years.

“Besides exports, our target is to become the number one company in Rajasthan in the next five years. We are also ramping up value-added product portfolio as the segment brings in better margins. Recently, we rolled out our premium dairy Sun Village, offering a variety of value added products,” added Modi. Currently, Saras, the cooperative dairy federation, is the market leader in the state with more than 50% market share with brands like Amul and Lotus competing for the second position.
